Custom Guitar Stage One

Description

You are looking at what is going to be my very own custom made axe! This is not a piece of art by me but by the good folks at Gordon Smith Guitars in Manchester - [link]

Okay, so this is exactly stage one of the build process but the body, neck and headstock are all glued together and drilled and the body has been finished and bound. The guitar is going to be a cream version of the popular "les paul" style guitar. Gordon Smith's version of it is called the "Graduate '60" which is a fitting name because it is a graduation gift from my lovely parents :D.

The body of this beast is made from spruce with a select maple capping. I went for the expensive option and also ordered a maple neck (ooh, the tone is gonna be sweet!). Only the front of the guitar is going to be gloss finished with the rest satin. I have also asked for the headstock front to match the body and be cream to make it even more distinctive.

To cut a long story short, the rest of the hardware is going to include a tunamatic les paul style bridge, their own stock chrome plated pups, a black scratchplate and black ice cube style pots. It's gonna be sweeeet!!! I will post more pictures of this mutha as and when I get 'em!

Interesting choice of wood for the body. Are you going to put Gibson pickups?
